SAM License Management FAQs This is a list of the most frequently asked questions about the license management of SAM together with answers to the questions. If you are unable to find the answer to your question in the FAQs or require additional information, please contact the Bestech Systems help desk or log an on-line support query.
Q. I have just installed SAM. When I try to run it I receive the error message "Program copy has not been licensed. Error code -28." A. SAM uses a software copy protection system which must be
installed and activated before the program will run. To install the copy protection click on the
Start button and select SAM License manager from the Programs | SAM | License Management
folder. Select step 1 to install the license and note the serial number generated. Q. I have installed SAM and the copy protection system. When I try to run the software I get the error message "Past expiry date. Contact Bestech support quoting error code -25". A. In order to run the software you must first activate the license. Complete and return the activation code request form quoting your SAM serial number. When your activation code is sent to you, select step 2 on the SAM License Manager and follow the on-screen instructions to activate your license. Q. SAM is installed on a network. When I try to run the program I get the error message "Program copy has not been licensed. Error code -28." A. To run SAM from a network location you require a network license
for the software. If your software is not licensed to be run from a network you will receive this error message. Q. When I try to run SAM I receive the error message "License manager error. Contact Bestech Systems Help Desk quoting error code -118". What does this mean? A. This error message is produced when SAM is unable to modify its' license files when it starts up. When SAM starts up, it needs to modify a number of files and folders within its' installation folder. The most common cause of this error is when the current user account does not have permission to modify files and folders within the installation folder. To correct this problem, the systems administrator needs to grant full read/write access rights to all files and sub-folders in the installation folder for all users who need to run the software. Q. When I try to run SAM I receive the error message "Protection invalid. Probably due to Backup and Restore of license files. Contact Bestech Systems Help Desk quoting error code -155". What does this mean? A. This error message indicates that there is a problem with the SAM license
files. The error normally occurs after there has been a problem exiting a network license of SAM. Q. How do I move a SAM license from one computer to another? A. Moving a license is a two stage process. First you need to install the software
on the new PC and obtain a serial number. Next go to the old PC and run the SAM License Manager. Click
on the "Move License" option and enter the serial number from the new PC when prompted. Note down the activation
code generated and run the license manager on the new PC. Select the "Activate License" option and enter the
activation code produced by the old PC. Q. How do I install multiple licenses of SAM for use over a network when each license has different licensed components? A. Detailed instructions for doing this can be found by reading this
information sheet. Q. How do I upgrade SAM from a standalone to a network license? A. First you will need to purchase a network license for the software. When you
have done this follow the instructions given in this information sheet to
